Ο επόμενος προορισμός μας είναι το χωριό Μαργαρίτες, γνωστό για την τέχνη και την παραγωγή κεραμικών. Περιδιαβαίνοντας τα στενά σοκάκια του χωριού, θα δούμε κατώφλια από πετρόκτιστα σπίτια με όμορφη διακόσμηση από την εποχή της Ενετικής κυριαρχίας. Το χωριό δίνει μια πραγματική αίσθηση του πώς ήταν τα κρητικά χωριά σε περασμένους αιώνες. Υπάρχει και προαιρετική επίσκεψη σε εργαστήριο κεραμικής. Έπειτα, επισκεπτόμαστε τον δημοφιλή τουριστικό προορισμό του Πλακιά, με πολλά εστιατόρια, καφέ και μπαρ κατά μήκος της νότιας ακτής, όπου μπορείτε να απολαύσετε το μπάνιο σας στα καθαρά νερά. Θα συνεχίσουμε στο χωριό Ασκύφου στα Λευκά Όρη, όπου θα επισκεφθούμε το μουσείο πολέμου, το οποίο, αν και μικρό, είναι εντυπωσιακά αυθεντικό. Το μουσείο τιμά τη μνήμη του Δεύτερου Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου. Επιστρέφοντας στον κεντρικό δρόμο, θα κατευθυνθούμε προς το χωριό Ίμβρος με το διάσημο φαράγγι του.
Η επόμενη στάση μας είναι το χωριό Αργυρούπολη, που συνδυάζει μοναδική φυσική ομορφιά και ιστορία. Υπάρχουν μικροί γραφικοί καταρράκτες, πετρόκτιστοι και ξύλινοι νερόμυλοι, καθώς και τεράστια πλατάνια που προσφέρουν δροσερή σκιά. Μπορούμε να απολαύσουμε ένα παραδοσιακό γεύμα σε ένα όμορφο εστιατόριο δίπλα στους καταρράκτες, όπου μπορείτε ακόμη και να ψαρέψετε μόνοι σας μια πέστροφα.

Λίγο μετά την έναρξη της πεζοπορίας, απολαμβάνουμε ήδη την υπέροχη θέα προς το Λιβυκό Πέλαγος, το νησί της Γαύδου, τον κόλπο και το χωριό του Λουτρού. Αφού φτάσουμε σχεδόν στην ακτή, ανεβαίνουμε ξανά προς τα Λιβανιανά, όπου μπορούμε να κάνουμε ένα διάλειμμα για ένα αναψυκτικό ή ένα σνακ. Το μονοπάτι περνά από το υψηλότερο μέρος αυτού του χωριού και μας οδηγεί στο ανατολικό άκρο του Φαραγγιού της Αράδαινας.
Εισερχόμαστε σε αυτό το άγριο και απόκρημνο φαράγγι από την πλαγιά και βρισκόμαστε στο κέντρο του. Ακολουθούμε την πορεία του προς τα νότια. Η τελική μας ανταμοιβή είναι η άφιξη στην παραλία Μάρμαρα, όπου μπορούμε να δροσιστούμε στα κρυστάλλινα νερά του Λιβυκού Πελάγους. Μπορούμε επίσης να απολαύσουμε ένα γεύμα στο μικρό εστιατόριο του όρμου. Μετά την παραμονή μας εδώ, κάνουμε μια σύντομη πεζοπορία που θα μας οδηγήσει στο σημείο συνάντησης όπου έχει κανονιστεί η μεταφορά μας.

Description: Our first visit is at the modern “Kanakis” olive oil factory to in order to learn about the process of olive oil production and taste the fine Cretan olive oil. Here we meet an ancient olive tree, one thousand years old. We continue to the innovative olive mill where all production steps and details are described to you. We can taste two different servings of the exquisite, extra virgin olive oil. One pure with no addings and another traditional oil with lemon and salt. Little secrets about storage, best use and healthy attributes can be discussed as well. Our next visit is at one of the best wineries of the region, where we will enjoy a 30-40’ tour. We will learn about the history, tradition and the latest developments in the production of wine as well as legends related with Dionysus, the God of wine. You will participate in a fully guided tour at the plantations of the winery, the cellar and the production area. After the tour, we will continue on to the wine tasting room, where you will be able to taste five types of wine, accompanied with traditional rusks and olives. Our last stop is at the village of Vrysses in order to end our daytour by tasting local yogourt with honey, while sitting next to the river.

Description: This excursion starts with the visit at the most important archaeological site in Crete, the Minoan palace of Knossos which is associated with thrilling legends, such as the myth of the Labyrinth and the Minotaur. Description: We will start our tour from Prasses, a wonderful medieval village. We can see the interaction of different cultures that passed through Crete, the Venetian mansions, the Ottoman farmsteads and the Orthodox churches. The village has been built on the edge of a gorge and is surrounded by lush greenery. This gorge is the departing point for many hiking excursions in summer. Our next stop is the Potami Dam of Amari. It is an artificial lake where all the water from the surrounding mountains is collected. The place attracts a lot of visitors, who can admire the new created wetland, the lush landscape, the geomorphological features of the area and the dam construction itself. Afterwards we continue driving through some beautiful villages such as Meronas and Gerakari to reach our final stop at Patsos Gorge. At its entrance there is a water infrastructure with constantly running water next to the river. Here there is also a traditional tavern “Drymos” for lunch. Description: This is an interesting route for the experienced travellers that want to explore authentic Crete. No fancy restaurants and touristic places. Driving through an amazing landscape, traditional villages of Crete, and points with incredible view, we will approach the village of Zoniana. Here we find the Sfentoni cave, one of the biggest and most beautiful caves of Crete, adorned with stalactites and stalagmites. After that we drive to the traditional village of Axos. It is located at the north side of Psiloritis Mountain, 600 meters above sea level. Ruins of the acropolis’ walls can still be seen today. It is estimated that the city was inhabited from the Geometric until the Byzantine period. During the 6th century the number of churches reached up to 46, some of which still stand today. In the center of the village there is a spring where you can drink fresh water coming directly from Psiloritis, the highest mountain of Crete. You may also visit the museum with handmade statues of olive wood. Our last stop will be in Drosia Village to have lunch at a traditional tavern. You’ll have the chance to taste grilled lamb or pork prepared in the special “cretan way”!
