Description: The day will start with a visit of the Venetian fortress of Fortezza. Among the well preserved monuments of the fortress are the deposits of the Artillery, the Residences of the Counselors and the Rector Retore, the Mosque of Ibraim Han and the “Erofili” theatre. You will continue with a town sightseeing walking tour during which, you will have the chance to explore several of the town’s most important Venetian and Ottoman monuments, such as the picturesque, colourful Venetian harbor, the Loggia, the Guora gate, the Rimondi fountain, the cathedral of St. Francis, the five Mosques of the city, the Turkish school. The tour will also bring out plenty of hidden spots off the beaten track, which reflects the mix of influences that has given Rethymnon its very unique atmosphere. A walk through time, promises to help you gain an understanding of how the city’s multilayered history has unfolded. The tour finishes with a great discovery, the Raki! The cretan drink, witch accompanies every joy and pain of life of the islanders, will be offered nearby the hotel.
